Discontinued access to Greatham Bridge view point - TBC petition. · Paul Anderson · Added 8 December 2009
The Teeside Bird Club recently contacted us regarding the proposed discontinuation of access to Greatham Bridge view point. TBC Chairman, Alistair McLee sent the following message to DBC members asking for help:
Dear Paul,
If you have been following the Teesmouth Bird Club Web Site in the Announcements Section and members remarks in the Forum, you will gather that the club is totally displeased at the precipitous actions of N E in closing off the informal vehicular access to the bridge on the short stretch of redundant road way.
The pretext is the good old chestnut of H & S. This totally ignores the problems now created for disabled access. In fact the knock on effect could be to encourage more dangerous vehicular access to the site via the blind rise of the bridge itself.
We have expressed our displeasure in no uncertain terms formally as club trustees already to N E and a petition is being circulated for individuals to express annoyance personally.
Can I please ask DBC to publicise this important issue to your own members and ask you to formally, both as a club and individually as members, to support this matter as fellow birders on the estuary. Thank you.
Alistair McLee ( TBC Chairman)
