Thirty club members made this trip on what turned out to be a fantastic day weather-wise, with sunshine from start to finish! The first birdwatching stop on Lindisfarne was at St. CuthbertÕs Island where great views were had of Bar-tailed Godwits, Knot, Red Throated Divers and Grey Plovers. A walk up the Heugh revealed thousands of distant Brent Geese, with much better close views of a Slavonian Grebe. Rock Pipits, Ringed Plovers and Curlew Sandpipers were all seen, with great views of 3 Short Eared Owls on the journey back to the coach. On leaving the island we decided to stop at Budle Bay, where the highlight was a female Peregrine eating a Gull, with the male also making regular fly-overs. An hour or two at Cresswell, before the journey home, produced Black-tailed Godwits, Kingfisher and a fine drake Scaup. This was a very enjoyable trip in great company.
