Leighton Moss - Sunday April 26th 2009 · Added 3 May 2009
Club Trips are always well supported and this was no exception. 33 members turned up on a beautiful sunny morning.
On arrival at Leighton Moss several members were dropped off at the main reserve while the majority decided to stay on the coach for the short ride up the road to the Morecambe Hides. A handful of members then made the decision to walk a further mile to visit Warton Cragg, where excellent views of Peregrine and Raven made the walk worthwhile. At Morecambe Hides, Curlew Sandpipers, Black Tailed Godwits, Avocets and splendid summer-plumaged Spotted Redshanks were seen before the journey back to the main reserve. Members' luck varied on the main reserve, with some treated to a fly over Osprey while others were content with fantastic views of a perched up Bearded Tit. Marsh Harriers gave a great show with Buzzards and Ravens in company. An Egyptian Goose was seen as the bus left the reserve, capping off another memorable Durham Bird Club trip.
