Holy Island and Northumberland Coast - Sunday October 11th 2009 · Derek Charlton · Added 29 October 2009
This trip is always productive and it was great to see 25 members make the journey.
The Glossy Ibis was still present at Druridge so it was logical to make this our first stop, an instant 'lifer' for some of the group. Nearby Cresswell pond is always worth a look with Red Breasted Mergansers, Red Throated Diver and Scaup all present.
On reaching Holy Island, news of a Firecrest on the Snook was too good to miss. A lengthy walk was justified with the bird giving excellent views-another 'lifer' for most of the party.
2 Yellow-browed Warblers were present on the Straight Lonnen with a Lesser Whitethroat in company. Around 70 species were seen throughout the day with other highlights including Pied Flycatcher, Brambling and Brent Geese.Another very enjoyable trip in great company.
