Gift Aid and Your Subscription
The Club would very much like to encourage you to consider signing a Gift Aid declaration in connection with your annual subscription to the Club. This enables the Club to claim a sum equal to about 28p for very £1 of your subscription back from the Inland Revenue. This provides a significant increase in income, and the Club is always grateful to members who elect to enter this scheme. The style of the Gift Aid form covers the duration of your membership to the Club, and it can be cancelled by you in writing at any time, without loss. This is the only form that you need to complete. Before entering into this scheme, please read the instructions and facts below to ensure that you qualify.
1. Who should enter into Gift Aid?
Any member who has paid income tax or capital gains tax on their subscription. If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your self assessment tax return.
2. Are there any disadvantages?
None.
3. Who should not enter into Gift Aid?
Non-taxpayers, for example students, the unwaged or pensioners on basic state pension only. Probably also those who only pay tax at the 10% rate of tax - those paying tax for the full year on a total of £1500 or less, after deduction of the appropriate personal allowances. If you cease paying tax, change your name or address, please remember to tell us.
4. What if I cease to be a member?
In practice - nothing. The Club will not claim the subscription nor reclaim the income tax, and you do not claim the deduction on your tax return. You can cancel your membership at ANY time without loss.
5. Completion of the Declaration
All that we require is your full name, address, signature and date on the enclosed application form, it's that simple.
6. What if I pay my subscription by Standing Order?
This makes no difference at all. You may cancel your subscription at any time without loss.
7. Are there any other forms to complete?
No!
We very much hope that you will contribute to the Club in this worthwhile way. Should you have any queries about this, then please contact the Treasurer or ask your local tax office for leaflet IR113 Gift Aid. If you are unsure about your current tax status, then contact your local tax office, who will advise you accordingly.
