Here's a look at the arrival dates of some of our spring visitors in 2006.

March Records:- Swallow, Sand Martin, House Martin, Wheatear, Ring Ouzel, Little Ringed Plover, Black necked Grebe & Chiffchaff. 

April

 1^st     Avocet – One at Port Clarence with a pair nearby on 14^th.

 3^rd     Garganey – A pair on Back Saltholme, with 5 birds on 23^rd.

 5^th     Willow Warbler – singing at Shibdon Pond.

 7^th     Yellow Wagtail – SAFC Academy & 4 pairs at River Team on 11^th.

8^th      Osprey – Dormans Pool & 1 north over Edmundbyers on 13^th.

11^th     Common Sandpiper – Houghton & Hurworth Burn on 14^th.

13^th    Whimbrel - Whitburn.

15^th    Manx Shearwater – Whitburn.

15^th    Arctic Tern – Whitburn & 2 at Hartlepool Headland the next day.

15^th    Redstart – Stargate & Herrington CP.

16^th    Grasshopper Warbler – Usworth, Washington.

17^th    Common Tern – Whitburn.

17^th    Pied Flycatcher – Muggleswick.

18^th    Common Tern – Saltholme Pools.

19^th    Sedge Warbler – Dormans Pool.

19^th    Spotted Redshank – Greatham Crrek.

20^th    Swift - Lamesley, with 16+ at Dormans by 26^th.

20^th    Common Whitethroat – Cowpen Bewley.

21^st    Tree Pipit – Burnhopeside.

21^st    Reed Warbler – Dormans Pool.

22^nd    Hobby (x3)  – Marsden, Haverton and North Gare.

22^nd    Cuckoo – Old Quarrington & Tunstall Res the next day.

23^rd    Arctic Skua – Whitburn.

23^rd    Common Whitethroat – 2 males at Herrington CP.

24^th    Spotted Flycatcher – Tunstall Res.

24^th    Wood Warbler – Tunstall Res & Haverton Hole next day.

24^th    Lesser Whitethroat – Southwick.

24^th    Blue Headed Wagtail – Lamesley and Seaton Carew.

25^th    Wood Sandpiper – Back Saltholme Pools.

25^th    Greenshank – Back Saltholme Pools.

25^th    Whinchat – Ryhope.

26^th    Garden Warbler – Escomb, and Brasside and Shibdon over next 2 days.
