G W Egret

I was informed this morning that a GW Egret was back at Tindale on the river Gaunless. Went check after lunch and sure enough, after some searching around it was finally located. Downriver East of the footbridge at NZ196263 towards Fylands pond. It was difficult to find as it was feeding along the river and only it's head was visible. Large as Heron and yellow bill. Some fair sized flocks of Fieldfare around as well.

Is that the area that's known as "The Gaunless Flats" ? Fred

I'm not sure, I think that might refer to the area at Spring Gardens before they built the flood barrier. We just call it "Fylands". But it's where the old line used to run and the footbridge crosses the Gaunless, down river to the bridge at tindale.
