Low Newton

Low Newton Junction (my most local 'patch') has been quite productive over the last week: I found a male Hawfinch there on the 4th Jan but assumed it had moved on when I couldn't find it on subsequent visits. But he's back - I saw him on the 28th Jan and then again today, giving good views as the trees are not too tall. Each time I've seen him at the top of one of the trees beside the railway line. I've also seen Brambling, Little Egret and fantastic numbers of Bullfinches along with the more regular Fieldfare, Redwing, Willow Tit, Jay, Tree Sparrow etc.

2 Woodcock were flying around along with the regular Barn Owl at Finchale Priory at dusk on Friday as well.

Nice shot. Love Hawfinch. Only ever seen them three times in Durham. Never found my own, time yet.
